Mahdi Qiresh Story

Mahdi Qiresh runs a music cassettes and CDs shop in the old city in Jerusalem
“This shop is like my eyes, I cannot live without it,” says Qiresh. “I have owned this shop since 1972, my collecting hobby started when I was young. I traveled to Egypt, Oman, Syria, and Morocco just to collect more CDs.”
He now owns a library of rare discs, some of them are Omm Kolthom reading the Quran, others are the Sheikh Bakri Al Kurdi who was the teacher of the artist Sabah Fakhri.
“For me, keeping my shop for this many years and it not getting forcefully shutdown [by the Israeli Occupation] is a form of resistance.”
