Yasmine Najjar Story
“Since the foot of the three year old girl was amputated as the result of a traffic accident, which shook her family, the little girl’s determination never wavered. “
The 24 year old, Yasmine Najjar, from the village of Burin, south of Nablus, faced the difficulties and challenges head on and began to fulfill her passions and dreams. Yasmine took up climbing as an outlet and activity for herself, until she became the first girl in the world to climb the summit of Kilimanjaro with an artificial foot.
She was the inspiration for Palestinian writer, Ibrahim Nasrallah, as the heroine in novel “The Souls of Kilimanjaro.” The first line of the book is “in every human being, he has a summit to climb, or else he remains at the bottom.” Yasmine chose the top.
