Marathon of freedom

Muhammad Abu El-Hemms, an activist from the village of Issawiya near jerusalem, a participant in the ninth Marathon of freedom and mobility in Bethlehem-Palestine.

Today, despite the injuries on my body as a result of the occupation’s attacks, I participated in the marathon with my medical crutches and the Palestinian flag so that everyone could see the justice of our issue.

Muhammad Abu El-Hemms tells that this marathon expresses the importance of mobility and movement for Palestinians who are limited by the occupation, while globally the marathon represents the tourism that it attracts to the countries. This marathon reinforces our steadfastness and presence in Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ. We also send, through it, a message to the international community to pay attention to the violations against us. People from about 90 countries participated with us today, but because of the apartheid wall, our people from Gaza Strip were prevented from participating. The occupation impedes our freedom, but it will not hinder our hope because we love life.
