Nour Ismael Al-Hattab

“My colleague, journalist Nour Ismael Al-Hattab, 25, is a Journalism and Media graduate. We used to work together on Slack, at the editing desk, and share team breakfasts.”

“Nour’s name suits her perfectly—it means “light” in Arabic.
She’s the one with the shy smile, the soft demeanor, and the determined spirit who never hesitates to share her ideas on the digital platform where we work together. She’s always striving to improve herself and chase her dreams.”

“At the beginning of the war on Gaza, She was constantly in touch with me through SMS and social media. But as the Israeli occupation escalated its attacks in Al-Shajaya, where she lived, I lost all contact with her.”

“When the connection was restored, my colleague informed me that Nour and her family had been killed in a massacre carried out by Israeli warplanes on November 7, 2023. Twenty-eight members of her family, including her, were killed, and their bodies remained under the rubble. I didn’t have the strength to believe this tragic news, let alone open the messages she had sent me on Instagram.”
“And tomorrow, the tears will become a smile, and the hardships of life will ease.”
This phrase remains forever on Nour’s Instagram account, a lasting reminder—and for me, an eternal condolence in losing her.”

A message was received from Amira Nassar, a member of Untold Palestine and Nour’s colleague.
